. . . sleeping position:

Reeve doesn’t like bath time.

This is what we refer to as “milk drunk”

And in the interest of posting other cute pictures for grandparents and friends, here’s one with daddy:

As mentioned previously, all babies born at Rush University during baseball season get free tickets to White Sox games. Reeve was born rather late in the season, so there were only four games left for which the tickets were good. Clearly Rob and I were going to be a bit too preoccupied this week to use them, so we gave them to our friend Mike Lohman, who is a huge White Sox fan. He was thrilled to take advantage of them, and sent us this great picture from the game:

Monday, September 8: Rob has really large big toes. Seems our little guy inherited the trait!

These are just cute, so we’re posting them.

Saturday, September 6th: Time to take our little guy home! We were surprised to see that the hospital has an original Keith Haring mural. Baby’s first public artwork! Our friend Jen was the first friend to meet Reeve, and our kitty Phoebe also had to check him out right away. The other cat ran in horror under the bed, and wouldn’t come out for a few hours, but now he’s on board with the idea of this flailing, crying thing in the house.

Jen and her brother JB were sweet enough to go to our place a few hours before we got there and make us an incredible homemade meal, and clean up afterwards as well. It was so nice to come home to. Thanks Jen and JB!

So here it is, Saturday, and our little man is now just over two days old! He’s still feeding really well, sleeps like a rock, and has us completely charmed. He did get a circumcision last night, so last night was a little rough. Wahhhhh! But Dr. Walker (our OBGYN) takes great pride in her “circs” and said it was one of the best ones she’s ever done. I’m sure she says that to all the parents of little boys, but we’ll take it. As she said herself, she knows that the ladies will appreciate it later in life! So it must be done well.

Speaking of Dr. Walker, here’s a picture of her with us. She’s really tall . . . taller than Rob without heels actually, but she ducked for the photo because I’m so short.

The Rush staff has been incredible. From visiting dieticians, pediatricians, lactation consultants, hearing specialists, and on and on, they are terrific. If we had to do this again (don’t hold your breath!) we’ll come here again. Even the janitor who emptied our garbage daily was sweet as could be and wanted to know all the details of our little guy! She loves working the pediatric unit.

Reeve Alexander Coleman arrived early this morning, Thursday, September 4th at 2:45 am! He’s 7 lbs 3 oz, blonde hair and blue eyes, very long fingernails, and super cute. And Allison did it all with no drugs! Very very difficult (and excruciatingly painful), but worth it in the end.

The name is from the Manley side . . . Reeve goes back to Felix Alexander Reeve (our little guy’s great-great-great-grandfather) who was in Abraham Lincoln’s cabinet and married into the Donelson family. Oddly enough, Felix was also born on September 4th! Go figure. And Reeve is Allison and Dr. Manleys’ middle name, so it was about time it was resurrected. And Rob hated the name Felix, so . . . Reeve it is!

He doesn’t cry much (yet) and is feeding and sleeping very well. The doctor was awesome, as were the nurses. Oh, and because the orthopaedics here at Rush hospital are the doctors for the White Sox, all babies born during the baseball season get free skybox tickets! So Reeve was brought to our room this morning after his bath with four free tickets in tow. Bonus!

Mojito is helping by breaking in the baby bathtub.
