This is what we refer to as “milk drunk”
And in the interest of posting other cute pictures for grandparents and friends, here’s one with daddy:

As mentioned previously, all babies born at Rush University during baseball season get free tickets to White Sox games. Reeve was born rather late in the season, so there were only four games left for which the tickets were good. Clearly Rob and I were going to be a bit too preoccupied this week to use them, so we gave them to our friend Mike Lohman, who is a huge White Sox fan. He was thrilled to take advantage of them, and sent us this great picture from the game:

Saturday, September 6th: Time to take our little guy home! We were surprised to see that the hospital has an original Keith Haring mural. Baby’s first public artwork! Our friend Jen was the first friend to meet Reeve, and our kitty Phoebe also had to check him out right away. The other cat ran in horror under the bed, and wouldn’t come out for a few hours, but now he’s on board with the idea of this flailing, crying thing in the house.
Jen and her brother JB were sweet enough to go to our place a few hours before we got there and make us an incredible homemade meal, and clean up afterwards as well. It was so nice to come home to. Thanks Jen and JB!

So here it is, Saturday, and our little man is now just over two days old! He’s still feeding really well, sleeps like a rock, and has us completely charmed. He did get a circumcision last night, so last night was a little rough. Wahhhhh! But Dr. Walker (our OBGYN) takes great pride in her “circs” and said it was one of the best ones she’s ever done. I’m sure she says that to all the parents of little boys, but we’ll take it. As she said herself, she knows that the ladies will appreciate it later in life! So it must be done well.
Speaking of Dr. Walker, here’s a picture of her with us. She’s really tall . . . taller than Rob without heels actually, but she ducked for the photo because I’m so short.
The Rush staff has been incredible. From visiting dieticians, pediatricians, lactation consultants, hearing specialists, and on and on, they are terrific. If we had to do this again (don’t hold your breath!) we’ll come here again. Even the janitor who emptied our garbage daily was sweet as could be and wanted to know all the details of our little guy! She loves working the pediatric unit.

Rob and I are HUGE Radiohead fans, and have never never never seen them in concert. We’ve tried . . . oh yes, we’ve tried . . . but they don’t tour that frequently, usually play teeny tiny venues, and are therefore quickly sold out, sending the price of scalped tickets sky high. So as live-music lovers, when we heard Radiohead was the headliner for this year’s Lollapalooza, we knew we HAD to go! (plus it never hurts that about 100 other good bands were playing, including Rage Against The Machine and Nine Inch Nails, and we love going to Lolla every year anyway). Hmmm, but eight months pregnant when the concert finally arrived was going to be tough. But I’m a tough cookie, and in a record crowd of 75,0000+ in Grant Park, we got relatively close to the stage. Thanks to Bryce and Friends for saving us a spot! It was worth it!

One of Allison’s skating coaches generously gave us three huge tupperware bins of little boy clothes, ranging in sizes from 0 months up to to a full year. Some of them still had the tags on them! It took us a weekend to wash, sort and organize all the clothes into the various sizes (0-3 months, 3-6 months, etc) and make sure that little shirts went with matching little pants and matching little hats and socks. It’s amazing the outfits for babies . . . we have Eddie Bauer, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, and a Harley Davidson outfit complete with do-rag. We even have baby Uggs! (not pictured). This is going to be quite the well-dressed child. At least until he throws up on the clothes a few times.
But I think what shocked us the most is the shoes. Seventeen pairs of shoes. Well, eighteen if you count the Uggs. That’s almost as much as his parents’ combined shoe collection. And the kid won’t be walking until when?
